Most of the work will be performed in Barstow, CA.Summary: This is semi-skilled physical work in the construction, repair, and maintenance of trails, trail heads and surrounding terrain.Duties and Responsibilities:Install route signs, trail, and kiosk construction.Maintenance of trails and trail heads, including horizontal and vertical mulching of closed routes.Repair or replace burned wooden fences and constructing fences to protect recovering vegetation from OHV use.Work will be performed using basic hand and small power tools including rakes and shovels.Reports problems or potential safety concerns to supervisor.Trail maintenance includes, but is not limited to, fence installation and repair (barbwire, concertina, chain link), painting, noxious weed treatment, interpretive sign replacement, planting flowers and trees, removing invasive weeds (mowing, weed eating, and manual removal), and trash clean up.Job Requirements:High School diploma or higher.Minimum 1 year experience.A valid driver’s license and clean driving record .Ability to pass a federal criminal background check.Interest and experience in field work and restoration strategy’s.Must have a high fitness level and a high comfort level in remote settings.Experience with interpreting USGS topographic maps of various scales.Ability to work alone/in a small group with minimal supervision.Experience using a GPS unit and the ability to learn ESRI ARCMap.Experience using ESRI programs such as ArcMap, ArcGIS, Collector, and ArcPad.General computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite).Must be able to take initiative, work independently, and participate in collaborative efforts.Comfortable working in remote areas (without cell phone coverage).Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely with resource professionals.Ability to
