Physician - Psychiatrist

The location is negotiable, (anywhere in the U.S.) and you must reside within 50 miles of a VA Medical Center and will report onsite. If that VA does not have space, you will be required to go on the delay for space list and then in the office immediately once space is found. VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package. Education Debt Reduction Program (Student Loan Repayment): This position is eligible for EDRP, a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of your start date. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Exercises judgment in the selection of or adaptation of standard and accepted clinical theories, techniques, and practices in treating patients or developing new techniques and programs for the treatment of specialized problems or clinical populations. Provides treatment of common patient diagnoses to include anxiety disorders, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Major Depression and other mood disorders, Substance Use Disorders, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, and other Serious Mental Illnesses, Dementia, and mental disorder related to Traumatic Brain Injuries. Cooperates with and participate in, medical duties or functions related to quality of care, peer review, improvement and with other performance improvement activities at the direction of the Chief Psychiatrist and Mental Health Care Line Manager. Provides general clinical psychiatric services to Veterans and including on-call services. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
