Job Description
The VHA Nationally Designated-Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) is a strategic program designed to provide Team Based Primary Care, Specialty Mental Health, and other specialty services in each VISN across the Enterprise, utilizing existing and emerging technologies. Telehealth technology improves Veterans' access to health care by matching clinical provider supply with demand, especially in rural areas where it is difficult to recruit. Using technologies such as video conferencing, patients can be seen in remote areas throughout the nation by providers who are associated with VA Medical Centers. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory CME: Possible $1,000 per year reimbursement (must be full-time with board certification) Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage provided Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting Duties include, but are not limited to: Performs duties as a practitioner and consultant in Psychiatry within a variety of clinical settings. May provide intensive outpatient services, routine outpatient services, consultation/liaison and/or to disaster response locations. Responsible for performing the full range of consultation, evaluation and treatment of emergency, complex and routine cases in the field of Psychiatry for a variety of emotional, psychological, and behavioral disorders. Provides various treatment therapeutics including medication management, individual, marital and group psychotherapies as indicated. Provides therapeutic interventions beyond the individual Veteran to include family psychotherapy and caregiver stress support as indicated and appropriate. Exercises initiative and sound judgment in establishing evaluation techniques, developing treatment and rehabilitation plans and providing appropriate therapeutic treatment services. Provides participation, professional consultation and collaborative medical support to other professional staff, interdisciplinary teams to maximize the effectiveness of their interventions and to increase health-promoting behaviors, with a significant emphasis on a prevention-oriented model of care. Such interdisciplinary teams may include Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) and Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT). Aligns and collaborates Veteran care as authorized with community providers/partners and programs. Supports other programs and initiatives, e.g., Behavioral Health Laboratory, Care Facilitation consultation, as indicated. Remains abreast of and engages in all clinical Mental Health policies, procedures and roll outs at the National, VISN and Local levels, e.g., suicide prevention initiatives. Attends staff meetings, team meetings, some committee meetings, and complete some peer review evaluations. Maintains active relationship with VISN Clinical Resource Hub to include open communication, participation in multidisciplinary team meetings, and committee meetings as approved by the Supervisor. Participates in the monitoring of performance measures that pertain to Outpatient Mental Health Services; gathers data as appropriate for administrative reports. Participates in program-wide outcome evaluation studies. Participates in systems re-design activities and projects within the context of continuous process improvement. Develops and implements research projects, prepares grant proposals, in coordination with supervisors and team members. Provides education regarding connected care services including web resources and mobile applications to patients and medical staff. Attends and actively participates in mental health activities (i.e., staff development, residency conferences). Prepares and presents educational lectures to a variety of disciplines as required. Provides formal education and clinical education in area of expertise to medical students and psychiatric residents in training. Provides patient education about diagnoses, therapeutic options, medications, and related topics when appropriate. Attends training to remain informed on VHA Telehealth/Connected Care initiatives and the latest advances in Telehealth/Connected Care delivery. Participates in intra- and interdepartmental committees, task forces, and projects, as requested by their supervisors. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
