Job Description
This position is eligible for Remote work and is exempt from return to office requirements. Selectees will work 100% of the time in a non-VA owned space outside or inside of the local commuting area of parent station. The employee's workspace must be suitable for conducting business, remote employees are expected to provide a secure, distraction-free home-based worksite with reliable high speed internet connectivity. The employee will be required to travel to the closest VA Medical Center or VA Outpatient Clinic for issuance of equipment, and as needed for technical support. Selectees will be required to self-certify that their remote workplace meets all safety, privacy, and internet speed requirements. Remote exempted positions are reviewed annually and do not imply permanent remote work status. General Radiologist - Functions and Scope of Assigned Duties: 1. Diagnostic Imaging Interpretation Interpret and report a broad spectrum of diagnostic radiologic exams, including but not limited to: Plain films (X-rays) Computed Tomography (CT) scans Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Ultrasound Mammography Fluoroscopy procedures Correlate clinical history with imaging findings and provide timely, accurate dictated or written reports. 2. Image-Guided Procedures Perform and/or supervise a variety of diagnostic and minimally invasive image-guided procedures, such as: Joint injections/aspirations Biopsies (e.g., soft tissue, bone, liver) Drainage procedures Myelography Chemotherapy Injections Ensure procedures are performed according to facility policy, safety standards, and best practices. 3. Consultative Services Act as a consultant to referring physicians, answering questions about appropriate imaging, exam protocols, and interpretation of findings. Participate in multidisciplinary case conferences (e.g., tumor board, morbidity, and mortality meetings) as assigned. 4. Supervision and Education Supervise technologists and other imaging staff in the conduct of imaging procedures. Provide education and guidance to medical students, residents, and other trainees where applicable. Participate in quality assurance/improvement activities. 5. Patient Safety and Quality Assurance Ensure adherence to radiation safety and infection control measures for patients and staff. Participate in peer review, clinical performance improvement, and quality management activities. 6. Administrative Duties Document in the electronic medical record in an accurate and timely manner. Participate in department meetings and committees as required. Assist with protocol development, policy updates, and process improvement. 7. Continuing Education Maintain board certification and participate in continuing medical education as required by the facility and credentialing bodies. Additional Duties May Include: Coverage of other imaging modalities (e.g., nuclear medicine) if appropriately trained and credentialed. Coverage for NTP teleradiology delayed reading after hours.
