Job Description

Duties include but are not limited to: - Plans, organizes, and implements a comprehensive, sports program, for active and retired military, authorized civilians, contractors, and dependents. These programs include (but are not limited to): self-directed recreational sports, and intramural and/or extramural recreational sports. - Serves as the subject matter expert on recreational sports for the installation. - Ensures sports programs are designed to meet the needs of participants at different levels of competition. Inspects and maintains multiple indoor and outdoor athletic facilities, equipment, and supplies used for athletic activities, events and programs. - Plans, organizes and conducts sports specific conditioning sessions, clinics, or seminars to train patrons. - Develops, schedules, and revises program events, tournaments and leagues. - Develops team rosters into leagues or brackets and prepares a schedule showing time, date, location of play and opponents. - Creates an environment that educates and promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and participation in recreational activities, in addition to providing a program in which risks are minimized. - Administers the local Captain's Cup program based on demands and needs of the local installation command structure. - Develops and conducts sports orientations for new military personnel and their families. - Develops and revises intramural sports rules to ensure they remain current with new governing body rules, rule applications and officiating mechanics. - Officiates or keeps score for offered athletic programs. - Makes and/or coordinates repairs of athletic equipment. - Plans and coordinates the details of recurring and non-recurring activities, special events and joint community undertakings within the assigned program to make maximum use of resources, consistent with military mission and with the principles of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) program development. - Assists the Fitness Program Director in periodically updating the departmental strategic plan and reports. - Projects income derived from fees and charges. Monitors inventories, patron counts and maintains related records and reports. - Seeks ways to directly connect departmental plans to current CNIC, MWR priorities including recruitment and retention. - Coordinates program efforts with other Fitness Division team members. - Works closely with other MWR departmental personnel in regards to scheduling, supervision, and facility guidelines. - Identifies installation and MWR target groups with whom special programs may be co-sponsored. - Develops and maintains a comprehensive publicity and marketing plan to include public relation duties (e.g., preparing and distributing flyers, press releases, brochures, etc.). - Develops input to annual budget and executes preplanned budget spending. - Provides input into determining the usage of budget resources for equipment upkeep and replacement, and program support needs. - Initiates purchasing, surveying, issuing and upkeep of recreational and athletic equipment. - Arranges for necessary equipment, supplies and services needed to accomplish scheduled programs and makes recommendations for improvements. - Ensures programs, operations, and use of equipment are conducted within all prescribed sanitation, and health and safety regulations, standards, and guidelines. - Implements an effective written safety/risk management plan and procedures for emergency care for participants; schedules training/certification classes in First Aid/CPR training for appropriate personnel. - Conducts regular safety inspections of the facilities, and reports concerns to the immediate supervisor. - Maintains outdoor athletic facilities and ensures facilities are in good working order. - Prepares training manuals/material, operating manuals, and SOPs. - Schedules recreation facilities and supervises condition of facilities. - Provides clerical support, program registration, answers inquiries, and coordinates with other divisions. - Schedules use of recreation facilities, contracts, and access list for various, sports facilities and programs.
