Public Works CODE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER Code Enforcement Officer Community & Economic Development Department Salary: $21.26–$30.71 Hourly DOQ + Benefits Application Deadline: April 9, 2026 at 5:00 PM The City is seeking a motivated and community-focused Code Enforcement Officer to join our Community & Economic Development team. This role is responsible for investigating and resolving complaints related to zoning, land use, public nuisances, and abandoned or inoperative vehicles. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who can educate the public, ensure compliance with City codes, and work collaboratively with multiple departments. Key Responsibilities • Respond to and investigate complaints involving zoning, land use, signs, public nuisances, and abandoned/dismantled vehicles. • Prepare and maintain detailed case files, including photographs and supporting documentation. • Conduct site visits and coordinate with various City staff. • Issue notices of violation and determine appropriate compliance actions. • Prepare abatement letters and perform follow-up inspections. • Prepare cases for public hearings and provide testimony in court, when needed. • Assist the public and support City staff involved in related activities. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities • Working knowledge of planning, zoning, land-use processes, and related federal/state laws. • Ability to interpret and apply codes, ordinances, and regulations. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Ability to conduct investigations, prepare clear reports, and maintain accurate records. • Proficiency with computers, cameras, and related software. • Ability to resolve conflict constructively and work professionally with the public and staff. Minimum Requirements • Valid Class C California Driver’s License (or ability to obtain). • Must be 21 years of age or older. • Successful completion of a background investigation. • Any combination of education and/or experience providing the necessary knowled
