Behavioral Health Technician for Residential Substance Use Treatment Program

About Us Desert Oasis Recovery is a residential substance use disorder treatment facility in Ridgecrest, CA, providing ASAM Levels 3.1 and 3.5 care. We are committed to supporting individuals on their recovery journey in a safe, structured, and supportive environment. As we prepare for licensure and Medi-Cal certification, we are hiring Behavioral Health Technicians (BHTs) to join our team. Position Summary The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct supervision and support to residents, ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment aligned with California DHCS standards and the ASAM Criteria. Key Responsibilities • Provide 24-hour supervision and resident support in a structured group living environment. • Conduct routine safety checks, headcounts, and client whereabouts documentation. • Monitor and document client self-administration of medications (non-licensed staff do not dispense). • Maintain facility cleanliness and assist in enforcing house rules. • Respond to resident needs and crises using de-escalation and trauma-informed approaches. • Document all significant observations, incidents, and activities in accordance with DHCS requirements. • Support implementation of daily program schedules including group, recreational, and life skills activities. • Maintain professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality at all times. • Provide or coordinate transportation for clients to appointments, groups, and facility-approved outings. Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent. • If in recovery, minimum 2 years of continuous sobriety. • CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain prior to hire). • Valid California driver’s license and acceptable driving record. • Knowledge of basic safety protocols, boundaries, and ethical practices. • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. • Must pass DOJ/FBI background check, drug screen, and TB test as a condition of employment.
