Job Description

Duties include, but are not limited to: The Supervisory Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) for National TeleOncology (NTO): Provides leadership characterized by substantial and continuous responsibility and accountability for population groups or integrated programs that cross services and/or discipline lines and influence NTO mission and health care. The APN is responsible for leadership of section and programmatic operations. They function as an administrator, educator, and consultant in collaboration with all clinical services/programs within NTO, Durham VAHCS, all NTO sites of care, interdisciplinary service leaders, and executive leadership. Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all levels of NTO, National Oncology Program, medical center(s) personnel and relates effectively with customers, families, and the community. Responsible for the timely completion of the FPPE and OPPE processes for providers in their section. This position will ensure audits are completed by the same license type or a higher-level license ensuring compliance with licensure requirements and VA policy and procedure. Accountability is specific to the completion of this process by established timelines and adherence to licensure requirements. Assists nurses and nurse leaders, APNs, and interdisciplinary clinicians in carrying out the functions and activities expected of them. Contributes ideas and recommendations for the establishment of standards of care, policies, and objectives for the enhancement of clinical practice. Leads and collaborates in policy-making activities as related to customer service and the overall operations of administrative and clinical programs. Collaborates with other health care staff to establish and maintain programs that cross services and/or disciplines that influence organizational mission and health care. Responsible for timely completion of all administrative supervisory management tasks and processes. These include but are not limited to: Annual performation evaluation in ePerformance, Time and leave, Employee personnel file management, Talent Management System training requirements, call-off coverage management. Manages Human Resources processes for recruitment, selection, onboarding and orientation of new staff. Also manages off-boarding when appropriate.
