Job Description
The Advanced Practice Nurse practices in Veterans Integrated Services Network (VISN) Clinical Contact Center (CCC) to provide a full range of services emphasizing quality, timeliness, and the advancement of the Veterans Affairs (VA) mission. The NP provides advanced clinical practice, consultation, and management through virtual modalities. The NP in the VISN CCC collaborates with a team of Registered Nurses (RN) to provide clinical care to patients through a virtual triage system. The NP strives to provide optimal clinically meaningful first contact resolution to patients and seeks end-user feedback to refine their practice. The NP will communicate with end-users at other patient sites to improve clinical management and integration into Veterans Health Administration (VHA) processes. The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification. Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position. The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position. The CCC Nurse Practitioner provides over the telephone/VA Video Connect (VVC) and soon to be deployed chat evaluation and management of patients with symptoms. The CCC provides service to veterans from VISN 1 New England Healthcare System, as well as state of the art telephone care service to veterans 24-hours, 7-days a week. Tele-medicine/VVC duties include, but are not limited to: Diagnosis and management Ordering labs and diagnostic tests Medication prescription and adjustment Medication reviews and adherence reviews Patient education VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package: VA Nurse Total Rewards Pay: Competitive salary, regular salary increases, potential for performance awards Paid Time Off: 50 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement) Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory Work Schedule: Tour varies: M-F, weekend, holiday, evening hours Telework: Not applicable. This is a remote position. Virtual: This position is being filled as remote. Current and former Federal employees must submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted). In some cases, more than one SF-50 may be required to show a higher grade previously held.
