Wildflower Trail Series - Red Rock Canyon

Spring in the Mojave Desert is nothing short of magical. When the wildflowers bloom, desert valleys, rolling hills, and mountain canyons come alive with color - creating one of California’s most breathtaking seasonal displays.

From beginner to more challenging hikes, we’ve partnered with the China Lake Summit Society to map out and guide you through the adventure.

The Iron Canyon Loop in Red Rock Canyon State Park offers stunning early-season wildflower viewing, with blooms typically appearing from late February through March. The 3.5-mile trail showcases these flowers against dramatic, colorful desert badlands and towering red rock formations.

Meet at the California Welcome Center - Ridgecrest (880 N. China Lake Blvd., Ridgecrest) at 8am. Depart by 8:15am. Meet at the trailhead and begin the hike by 9am.
