Spring 2026 Faculty Book Study

About This Event
The Office of Equity and Inclusion, in collaboration with the Office of Instruction, invites you to participate in a book study this spring, focusing on strengthening inclusive, equity-minded teaching practices across our campus. Together, we will engage with Inclusive College Classrooms: Teaching Methods for Diverse Learners by Lauren S. Cardon and Anne-Marie Womack.
This text provides research-based, practical strategies for creating more inclusive and effective learning environments. Grounded in critical pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning, and social justice frameworks, the book supports faculty in identifying and addressing barriers that may unintentionally exclude historically marginalized students, while offering concrete approaches to foster access, representation, agency, and community in the classroom.
This book study directly aligns with the California Community Colleges’ DEIAA priorities and our institutional commitment at Cerro Coso to advancing equity, access, and student success. As we continue striving to close opportunity gaps and improve outcomes for disproportionately impacted students, this collaborative space will provide an opportunity to reflect on our teaching practices, share effective strategies, and collectively strengthen a culture of inclusive excellence.
